Long-distance move from Camarillo, CA to Custer, SD

Worst experience ever!!!! Are negative rating possible ?

This company represents themselves as a full service moving company when in fact they are just moving brokers. They promise that they will pick up your furniture and take it to their storage facility where it will be loaded on a truck and headed to your house in 2-3 days.

Let me tell you what really happened. First Ed tried to tell me that he knew exactly how much furniture I had based on the square footage of my house, which he brought up on a real estate site. When I told him we had a lot more than that he argued with me. He initially had me do a phone walk through of our house. Of course the estimate went up. Next I ask for a in person quote, which they did and the quote went up again. I told Ed that the house we were moving to was on acreage and had a long gravel driveway, but 5 acres of pasture in front of the house to turn around in. He pulled up a picture on google earth and said it would not be a problem at all.

We arranged a pick up date 2 months out. They called at 5:30 the night before to say they couldn’t make it as they didn’t have any workers. They rescheduled for 2 days later and once again called the night before to cancel. They assured they would be there the next day at 8:00 AM. When no one had showed by 9:30 I tried to reach Natalie our moving coordinator. She was not answering so I left messages asking her to call me. By 10:00 I decided to reach out to Ed to see what was going on. He immediately started yelling at me telling me to call Natalie. When I could finally get a word in edgewise I explained that I had been trying to reach Natalie with no results. He then called me a liar and said I was told the movers would be there at 11:30. He became so rude and argumentative I finally hung up on him. A few minutes later Greg supposedly the big boss called screaming and cursing at me because I was supposedly rude to his employee. I ask him if his cursing and threatening me wasn’t the « pot calling the kettle black ». He became incensed and threatened to sue me in federal court and put liens on my homes for breech of contract. I told him I had fulfilled all my obligations as the customer and he was the one in breech of contract because he had failed to show as scheduled twice already. I finally had to hang up on him as he was getting beyond ridiculous with his threats. My next door neighbor heard the entire conversation as I had him on speaker phone . She was astounded that anyone would speak to a customer that way. These delays in showing up to load us cost me extra charges to the cleaning company and I had to rebate several days rent to our renters as the house wasn’t available as agreed.

The movers eventually arrived at 1:30. They loaded and took our furniture to the storage unit. Then the fun begins. They loaded our furniture on July 1 and was eventually delivered Sept. 2nd.

I had less than 24 hours notice that they were arriving. When the driver arrived at 5:00 in the evening he walked up our road and said he was too scared to drive his truck up our long driveway because he was afraid his tires would slip on the grass in the perfectly flat prairie grass in our meadow. Our house was under construction and the contractor was there. He told the driver that he had a CDL and would be happy to drive his truck up and turn it around for him. The driver refused. The driver ended up backing his truck .2 miles up the main gravel road to the bottom of our driveway. When I called Natalie and told her they would need to send a transfer truck to get our belongings up to the house she said it would be a $3,000.00 dollar additional charge and since they were not able to deliver it to our door they would not provide people to unload the furniture or set it up as they had agreed.

Thank God we moved to a rural area where people take care of each other. Our contractor contacted some friends and between them and the truck driver we managed to load our items into our personal car hauler trailer and get it into the basement. We did this in the dark and had to make 4 trips. My husband and I are in our late 60’s. If not for our amazing contractor coming to the rescue it would have been a disaster.

It didn’t take long to figure out they had lost a number of items, including the footboard and drawers to our king size bed. That cost me $450.00 to replace. They refused to sell me replacement insurance and said it would be covered by my homeowners insurance.

All I can say is this was one of the most traumatic experiences I have ever had. Once they load your furniture they ignore your calls, texts, and emails. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this company.

Scam.

They texted me everyday for about 20 days, I texted “STOP” like in most subscriptions because I have already moved.

Their response was “in the name of love”

I responded “STOP” again. And their response was “robots do not stop”

I found out That within those 30 minutes later my email and number were entered into numerous data bases, and my phone has continued to blow up, phone calls, emails, etc. They put in my name as “Bobo Gozonka”

EXTREMELY unprofessional, not even accredited by the BBB. I will be reporting them on every platform so people stay away.

Excellent

Absolutely the best experience using Interstate moving! From the initial contact with Mike, to Paul the lead guy on our move, They are the very best to deal with. No hidden charges, I was charged exactly what we were quoted! Everything was professionally packaged, TVs, computers, piano, all fragile items delivered without any damage. Crew was incredibly hard working, efficient and very friendly! We moved from California to Utah and using Interstate Moving made a very stressful situation more manageable knowing our belongings were in good hands

Poor Business Practices, Not Professional, Lost Items

This company upon inquiry of moving expenses and times, Lie. If you want one of the company owners to yell curse 4 letter curse words at you, have them damage your furniture, lie about delivery times and costs, loose boxes and tell you " your not special" hire these people. They have no principals at all in conducting business whatsoever. They damaged furniture even though they wrapped it and packed. Just do it yourself. Not worth the hassle mistreatment and being lied to or swore at. Plainly, when they have your money and possessions they DO NOT CARE and let you know it as well.

Out of State moving

On 7/14/21 we contracted with Mike (213-342-5337) at Interstate Moving LLC (Job# 7549016) to move our items from Roseville, Ca. to Kingwood, Tx. Items picked up on 7/27/21 to deliver on 8/1/21, at which time we paid $1126. This brings the total paid $1826. Contract states it can take up to 21 business days from first day of delivery which would have been 8/30/21. Contacted them via text Natalie (202-938-1605) on 8/5, 8/10 and 8/11 which we got a response saying average turn around time is 3-14 business days. Also texted for update on 8/25, 8/30, 9/7, 9/8, 9/9, 9/10 was only contacted on 8/25 and 9/7 with generic response that there is a delay. Also emailed on same days with same generic response. Have only spoken to a rep two times. Which one of the times they threatened to send our items to Seattle. Looking for professionalism and for them to honor the contract which they are in breach of.

Spoke to a rep today at 213-342-5337 saying that he does not work for Interstate moving anymore. He stated he left and that mike, ed and others left with him. He said that it was because the company is not delivering people's items as contracted and he was tired of taking these calls dealing with very upset customers. He said Natalie hired her friend Elizabeth and told her she didn't need to answer the upset customers calls or call them back. He also said the company used to be good but is now terrible especially the last 3 months. They get your items and then just don't delivery them. He said I should file complaints with BBB, Homeadvisor, Angi's list, my State Attorneys office this would be the only way to get my items. Afterwards I tired calling 202-938-1605 several times leaving messages. After an hour I get a text response, no one ever calls you back, from elisabeth stating "Hi Dan, This is Elizabeth. I'm sorry we missed your call. Your shipment has been in pending status for 35 business days today and I understand you need to know what's happening with your delivery ASAP. I've asked the facility manager for an update and i'll pass on any information I can get for you".

9/27/21 marks 40 business days, 2 months from the pickup date, with still no delivery date set.

Fraudulent Company Run by Sketchy Russians

Interstate Moving entices customers with false promises of a fast, affordable delivery and falsified 5 star reviews, knowing full well that it will not be able to deliver the customers goods within the promised time frames (the company has only one registered truck in its fleet). Despite being fully aware of the significant distress and hardship which such shipping delays cause its customers, Interstate continues its deceptive practices, justifying its actions with a fine print provision in its Bill of Lading, which states that that company has up to 30 business days to deliver customer's goods. However, when speaking to prospective customers, the company's sales representatives never provide this time-frame; instead, they state that the goods will be delivered approximately 5-7 days from the date of pick-up. When customers inquire why their goods have not arrived within the promised time frame, Interstate unleashes Ed Livingston, its general manager, who proceeds to intimidate, threaten and insult them into submission. When speaking to the company's sales rep, Mike, we were promised a delivery time frame of 5-7 business days; we did not receive our goods until a month and three days after the date of pick-up. Nobody in the company called to give us an update, and when we contacted Interstate about the whereabouts of our goods, we were insulted, threatened, and harassed by Ed Livingston, who who proceeded to insult, scream expletives, and threaten baseless legal action against us. Mr. Livingston referred to me, a 32 year old woman, as a little girl, demanded that the women [my mother and I] get off the phone, so that he could speak with my husband, and referred to my husband as a "d***head,"as a "little f***," and as an "arrogant jerk, who needed to learn his f***** lesson." The General Manager then threatened to transport our goods to a warehouse in Washington state, where they would be held indefinitely, unless we signed a non-disparagement agreement absolving the company of any wrongdoing. Mr. Livingston then proceeded to hound us with phone calls and to send hostile text messages, including insinuations that he knew where we lived (see PDF). He even called us, posing as "Thomas," Interstate's alleged legal counsel, to terrorize us into signing the non-disparagement agreement. Although we finally received our goods (save for a box of kitchen items which Interstate lost), it was not worth anywhere near the trauma and suffering which we had to endure to save several thousand dollars on the move. Feel free to reach out if you were also the victim of this company's schemes.

Move

OK. This is the company to call in a pinch. We were doing a self move and figured out that some of our most heavy and expensive stuff wouldn't fit. We called these guys. They came and packed it up on very short notice. The General Manager is a little rough, but he handles business, which is far more important to me. Our stuff was late due to COVID, so expect some delays, but it got here in virtually the same condition in which it left. Destiny, Nadia, and Mike were on it, and the contact for the driver was on it as well. No upcharge on delivery. Not as cheap as doing it yourself, but like I said, these cats are the go-to guys when when all else is failing.

Cross country move

Horrible experience!

The only time we received professional service was when we were quoted a fair price and locked into a contract, after that it was downhill.

The company added over $1800.00 additional charges for smaller miscellaneous items and also $300 for walking up stairs when they didn't need to park in that area.

We were given an approximate delivery date of 2 weeks and did not receive our furnishings until a month later.

Our driver never kept in touch of progress (as it was stated he would) as items were enroute.

When our delivery was finally made our things were damaged and the packers used TONS of tape-which we were charged for and a large suitcase of clothing was missing.

Moving is stressful and this company went above and beyond to make this experience much worse!

I understand that our move was made during COVID but this is no excuse for adding charge upon charge, damaging items, and poor communication.
